Band of Horses es una de esas bandas que, al menos en mi experiencia, son mas fáciles de escuchar y atrayentes para la gente que no esta habituada a un estilo de música poco comercial. Aún estando familiarizado con este estilo tardé más de la cuenta en darme cuenta de la calidad que poseían estos chicos de Seattle. Depués de leer criticas en tantos sitios del magnifico "Infinite Arms" decidí una vez por todas darles una oportunidad y me quedé gratamente sorprendido cuando los escuché, eran muy agradables una especie de indie-rock mezclado con el folk-rock. Sin embargo, el disco sonaba demasiado parecido, almenos en algunas canciones. Dos años después acaba de salir su nuevo álbum titulado "Mirage Rock". Al parecer, este disco ha recibido muy buenas criticas, algo que yo también comparto pero me parece un trabajo mucho mas de producción que su disco anterior.
El disco tiene un gran impacto al coincidir la primera canción con el primer single "Knock Knock.", el single lo escuche varias semanas atrás y me parecía un ritmo mucho mas rápido y pegadizo que cualquier canción hecha por ellos, es un tema agradable y relajado.
A medida que el disco avanza, hay algunas grandes canciones, y algunas algo menos buenas, "Knock Knock" empieza con las cosas bien hechas, pegadiza y de aire indie. La siguiente canción "How to Live" ya es un asunto mucho más serio, con una letra bastante mas introspectiva. La música en sí esta a un gran nivel la mayor parte del disco, eso me gusta porque hay más variedad que en su último álbum. Sin embargo, hay algunos temas como "Slow Hands of Time Cruel" que me recuerdan a los "Band of Horses" de "Infinite Arms", un tema un poco más lento, y con ese ambiente Country-Folk. Aunque es una gran canción en su conjunto. Sorprendentemente, las primeras canciones para mi son las mejores del disco. A al mitad del álbum es donde las cosas empiezan a flojear un poco más. "A Little Biblical" vuelve a tener esa sensación de alegría indie bastante "típica" como en "Knock Knock", pero que a mi modo de entender no me ofrece nada nuevo, en cambio la siguiente cancion, "Shut-In Tourist" es otra canción memorable del disco. No es mi preferida, pero es muy buena canción. Sin embargo, la sexta, "Dumpster World", es probablemente la canción que menos me gusta. Empieza muy bien, pero es un engaño. Hacia la mitad, la canción cambia completamente de dirección. No es horrible, pero no acaba de convencerme. La siguiente "Electric Music" en realidad sigue sus mismos pasos, pero con un corte mucho más "divertido", ya que no tiene un ambiente tan denso.
No hay tema malo en todo el disco, es simplemente que en mi caso es cuestión de tiempo para apreciarlo, como en otros tantos discos me ocurre. Mientras que el disco avanza hacia su final se calma un poco, las ultimas par de canciones son el ejemplo. "Long Votos" es otra canción lenta, y es un tema excelente. Como la última, "Heartbreak On The 101" es la más interesante del disco para mi, porque el principio es realmente raro. La voz de Bridwell es como si te hablara, sin embargo, canta. La canción comienza después de un minuto, pero la introducción es bastante rara. Esta vez, como otras tantas es otra manera de hacer las cosas bien.
Tal vez es sólo que tengo que escucharlo más, ya que la esencia de gran disco la tiene y la comparto.

Band of Horses is one of those bands that, at least in my experience, are easier to hear and attractive for people who are not accustomed to a style of uncommercial music. Even being familiar with this style took me more than necessary to realize the quality we had these guys in Seattle. After reading reviews on many sites magnifico "Infinite Arms" once and for all decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised when I heard they were very pleasant sort of indie-rock mixed with folk-rock. However, the record sounded too similar, at least on some songs. Two years later just out his new album titled "Mirage Rock". Apparently, this album has received very good reviews, which I share, but I think a much more production than his previous album.
The album has a great impact to match the first song with the first single "Knock Knock.", The single from hearing several weeks ago and it seemed a much faster pace and catchy as any song by them is a nice theme and relaxed.
As the album progresses, there are some great songs, and some slightly less good, "Knock Knock" starts things well done, catchy indie air. The next song "How to Live" and is a much more serious, with a lot more introspective lyrics. The music itself is at a high level most of the album, I like that because there is more variety than their last album. However, there are some songs like "Slow Cruel Hands of Time" that remind me of the "Band of Horses'" Infinite Arms ", a slightly slower, and Country-Folk that environment. Although it is a great song as a whole. Surprisingly, the first songs for me are the best on the disc. In the middle of the album is where things start to slack off a little more. "A Little Biblical" again has that feeling of joy indie fairly "typical" as in "Knock Knock", but to my understanding does not offer me anything new, however the next song, "Shut-In Tourist" is another memorable song on the disc. Not my favorite, but it is very good song. However, the sixth, "Dumpster World", is probably my least favorite song. It starts fine, but is a hoax. Halfway through, the song changes direction completely. Not horrible, but not convinced. The next song "Electric Music" actually follows in his footsteps, but with a cut much more "fun", as it has an atmosphere so dense.
There is no bad song on the whole album, it's just that in my case it's about time to appreciate it, as I can think of so many discs. While the album to its end is quiet a bit, the last couple of songs are the example. "Long Vows" is another slow song, and is an excellent topic. As the last, "Heartbreak On The 101" is the album's most interesting to me, because the principle is really weird. Bridwell's voice is like you talk, however, sing. The song starts after a minute, but the introduction is quite rare. This time, like so many is another way to make things right.
Maybe it's just that I have to listen more, since the essence of the album is great and I share.
