HERBIE HANCOCK
"HEAD HUNTERS"
Columbia
1973

*****

Today I'll change log of what I usually write in this blog, I will not speak or Pop, or Rock, Metal and Jazz but if Jazz, this kind boring to so many people and so fascinating to others, the truth is I'm not very knowledgeable in this area and more if I compare myself to my knowledge with the Rock, but I know little things that are destables as I review the disk.
Many people say they understood the "Kind of Blue" is the best jazz album of all time, but for me the "Headhunters" by Herbie Hancock has very little to envy the Miles Davis album. This is the album that broke all the provisions of a generation that came of a classic Jazz. "Headhunters" combines funk, jazz, rock and pop in some parts, so it is considered a Acidjazz disk. Leading by keyboard virtuoso Herbie Hancock, funk music carried to a new level. Even if you've listened to this album, and before you had not heard from Jazz, you will realize that it is not so difficult to listen to this genre, it's a very pleasant and easy to listen to newcomers to this world. It should also be noted that it is the best-selling jazz album in history. Imagine being so accessible to so many people is a handicap in their favor.
The album consists of four issues, starting with "Chameleon", certainly sounds much or little you this song. Jazz Bands around the world have made "Covers" of this song. The low opening is unforgettable. I always hear that it puts me in the head for hours or even days. After this, the saxophone comes with another memorable little melody. The battery is constant and is set at a good pace with Herbie background playing keyboards. This continues for a few minutes until we got to the keyboard solos, everyone should learn to love. Herbie really just shows his skill with a lot of fast times and hallucinatory effects. I never tire of listening to them, are perfect. The only lasts for several minutes and then the song reaches a new movement. Paul Jackson, bass line provides another great what you do not let me move her head up and down. Herbie comes with more random effects until 8:00 where the song reaches a new level of greatness. This part is one of the best moments of jazz, who never heard. Every part of this section is amazing. After three minutes back to the saxophone, but then again the relaxing jazz. With about 2 minutes the bass comes back home with the riff, and saxophone solos and keyboards have until the song fades. This song is by far the best song I've ever heard of jazz, and one of the best songs of all time. "Watermelon Man" indeed this issue is not the original version, is a new version that was made by drummer Harvey Mason. The flute plays a melody simple. Herbie then joins, so its keyboard sounds a bit like a guitar. At minute 1:45 we reached a new part that is very relaxing with small parts and bass saxophone. This song follows the same idea to the part that sounds the flute, and then the song fades, definitely worth a listen. "Sly", the beginning of this song is dominated by the masterful sax. After this part, Herbie comes with mastery of the keyboard for a short period of time, then there is a rapid change. There is a new line of low battery quick, sax, and suddenly things are solos for each instrument, but at the same time. It's amazing how a band can do all this while. Musically, it's amazing, possibly the most complex thing that a band played on an album ever. After several minutes of this we come to a new piece with a fast tempo continued. The drum beat in the song is a jazzy, Herbie with minor adjustments. The bass is barely audible during this part, but it fits the song well. Herbie sets a great keyboard solo until the band finishes. Another classic theme. With "Vein Melter" Unfortunately, we came to the last song on this masterpiece of Acidjazz. The first few minutes are very soft and relaxed. The pace is very slow, with a battery slowly with saxophone. It's hard to get more out of this one because this is what more or less there. If you like smooth jazz, then definitely this is your song.
If you do not have this disc already in your collection, go for it as soon as possible. Fans of any genre will enjoy it, as it combines many different styles of music. Please do yourself a favor and buy, download or listen to this album as soon as possible, certainly will not be disappointed. I promise. I do not usually give a perfect score very often, but this album deserves songs as often as you.
