IMPERIAL TEEN
"FEEL THE SOUND"
Merge Records
2012

*****

As ironic names in music groups "Imperial Teen" are kings, boy does it! A teenager named group which is composed of members that reach 50 years has its point of grace.
I've never been too clear whether Imperial Teen has been a side project to their main bands or band consistent. After these 15 years, if they have not wanted to have that expectation, or simply have done on purpose. I mean, is likely to be both. However, when a band is able to handle such a striking mix of mind with a suitable environment to do so, can be forgiven. However, there has always been a lot of consistency in his records, with a cheerful and carefree pop. "Feel the Sound", fifth LP of the band, again make happy fans with his style so recognizable, bright pop touches with a satirical slant and a slightly punk. Their leader Roddy Bottum (Faith No More) is not acting as a leader, actually makes more of a animal tamer, as each member of the band (Bottum, Stebbins, Schwartz and Truell) has plenty of talent to show. In short, "Feel the Sound" is both an album of such competent talents. The album begins with his cheerful first single "Runaway". It's catchy in the way you would expect, with a common voice to express joy in equal measure. Like those keyboards and the basis for it is well structured and fluctuates as it flows throughout the album. "Last to Know" and the bouncy charm of songs like "Hanging About", and the bitter sweet "All the Same" pop cover of joy, playing with emotions from start to finish."The Hibernates" for example, uses a silky vocal harmony or the fantastic "No Matter What You Say", the chorus is incredibly catchy! like that song we teach small and remember all the Teen vida.Imperial always tend to go to a place where their preferences eclipse pop rock sensibility. Merging performing sometimes have a Sonic Youth ancestors environment with a lovely and refreshing rebound. Just know I have it, you have spent a lot of years Work will a place for themselves in a place already been created by others long before them. But here's the most attractive part of her passion, Imperial Teen still fighting a war over and over again but you really know that neither win nor lose, and feel happy about it.
"Feel the Sound" is easy to hear, feel the sound and let go, it will not be a classic, and is a masterpiece, nor is it a perfect album, but has originality and that shows a sincere and genuine attitude of a band continues to subvert expectations. They invent not only stick to what they know.
