Llamada a ser por la prensa musical inglesa la sensación indie de este 2012 que ya va finalizando. La joven de Camberley no es una recién llegada pues lleva en esto de la música desde 2009, en lo mas underground, llegando incluso a autoproducirse sus propias maquetas las cuales vendía tras sus conciertos. En 2010 conoce al líder de Bombay bicycle club y colabora en dos de sus discos. Esas colaboraciones empujan a Columbia Records a ficharla en mayo de este mismo año. En seis meses nos presenta este "Like i used to" una joya, un disco que te enamora desde el primer suspiro. Lucy ha sido descrita como una mezcla entre Joni Mitchell y Neil Young y nada mas lejos de la realidad. Aunque para mi suene mas a un cruce entre la P.J Harvey mas delicada y la Tori Amos mas introspectiva. Hermosas y estremecedoras letras, temas simples , acústicos, con poca instrumentación y acertados arreglos. Su voz lo llena todo. Es dulce, llena de sentimiento, capaz de emocionarte y de transportarte lejos de la realidad. Con el simple hecho de darle al play al reproductor te das cuenta de que Lucy es especial. Grabado en casa de sus padres en Warwickshire es quizás ese el motivo de la calidez que desprende este gran debut.
El single "Middle of the bed" es un tema con vida propia que se adueña de ti y no te suelta, se instala en tu cabeza y crece en tu interior. Es de lejos el tema mas complejo instrumentalmente hablando de todo el disco."Bikes" es otro single en potencia, de lo mas animado del disco. Reconozco que tengo especial predilección por las voces femeninas y si son como la de Lucy mas aun. Tras un día duro en la oficina, o tras una sesión de guitarrazos apetece apagar la luz, sentarte en tu rincón favorito de casa y con un buen vino degustar este disco, que a mi ya me ha robado el corazón.
"Be alright" es una de las canciones mas simples pero también mas emotivas de todo el trabajo. "Scar" es un diamante, donde la etérea y angelical voz de Lucy brilla hasta cegarte. Otro gran disco, uno mas de este excelente año musicalmente hablando.

In six months presents this "Like i used to" a gem, an album that you love from the first breath. Lucy has been described as a cross between Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, and nothing could be further from the truth. Although to me it sounds more like a cross between PJ Harvey and more delicate Tori Amos more introspective. Beautiful and heartbreaking lyrics, simple themes, acoustic, with little instrumentation and arrangements successful. His voice fills everything. It's sweet, soulful, able to move you and transport you from reality. With simply hit play to the player you realize that Lucy is special. Recorded at his parents' house in Warwickshire is perhaps that the reason for the warmth given off by this great debut.The single "Middle of the bed" is an issue with their own life that takes over you and does not let go, is installed in your head and grows inside you. It is by far the most complex instrumentally speaking of the entire disk. "Bikes" is another potential single, very lively disc. I recognize that I have a predilection for female voices and if they are like Lucy more even. After a hard day at the office, or after a session of guitarrazos want off the light, sit in your favorite corner of the house and enjoy a good wine with this record, which I already stole my heart."Be Alright" is one of the simplest songs but also more emotional of all the work. "Scar" is a diamond, where the ethereal and angelic voice shines to blind you Lucy. Another great album, one more of this great year musically.
