Aun no hace un año de la salida a la venta de la edición de Luxe 20 aniversario del "Nevermind" que ya tenemos otro producto a punto de llegar a las tiendas… En esta ocasión es un híbrido de varios directos difíciles de digerir, la verdad. Los conciertos mas míticos de la banda ya han salido al mercado ( live at the Paramount, unplugged in New York, live at reading, etc…), así que en esta ocasión tiran de actuaciones televisadas como el polémico Live n' Loud… Para un directo de una banda, siempre preferiré una única actuación, un show entero, como el excelente "at Reading" o el vengativo "at the Paramount" a un complendio de diversos directos unidos en el estudio de grabación como en el desafortunado "From the muddy banks…".
"Feels like the first time" es por desgracia una mezcla de varies actuaciones. Las 10 primeras canciones son la actuacion completa del concierto que dieron el 13 de diciembre de 1993 junto a The Breeders y Cypress Hill titulado Live n' Loud para la MTV. Con la banda como cuarteto Pat Smear ya formaba parte del combo, suenan potentes, contundentes y perfectamente engrasados.
Estas 10 canciones parecen un resumen de lo que serian sus actuaciones por Europa presentando "In útero" meses mas tarde.
El 9 de febrero del 1994 pasarían por Barcelona y su sonido seria así de crudo empezarían y acabarían el concierto igual aunque tocarían mas temas entremedias.
No se si es por su amor/odio a la Mtv pero Kurt escupe bilis en cada estrofa, aporrea su guitarra con una rabia inusitada y el resto se ven arrastrados por el magnetismo de Cobain.
"Endless Nameless" es virulenta, retorcida incluso violenta… un acto de nihilismo terrorista, con el que la banda de Seattle se vengo de los magnates del poderoso canal televisivo.
Las siguientes 6 canciones son parte de una actuación de la banda en Australia en Febrero del 1992 y ahí el trio se muestra menos salvaje dentro de lo salvaje de su propuesta. El sonido de estas es de menor calidad pero mejor que muchos bootlegs que andan por ahí. Al ser un disco de retazos "Lithium" aparece 2 veces detalle algo molesto para mi.
Como 16 temas les parecían pocos añaden 4 canciones de diferentes actuaciones en el Mundialmente conocido SNL y se quedan tan anchos!
Los últimos 4 temas son "smells like teen spirit", "territorial pisings", "Rape me" y "Heart shaped box" suenan mejor que la parte de australiana y eso es de agradecer.
Resumiendo puestos a sacar un directo de Nirvana a estas alturas su ultima actuación la de Milan a pocos días de su intento de suicidio en Roma y su posterior desenlace seria el único concierto apetecible, pero como saben que los fans siempre acabamos cayendo en la trampa se lo guardan para otra ocasión.
Si tienes todo lo que ha salido oficial de Nirvana, como es mi caso, y aun tienes mono de Cobain y compañía compralo, aunque yo últimamente escucho mas el disco de Little Roy versioneando canciones de Nirvana en plan Reggae, que cualquier disco del trio de Aberdeen. En fin como decía Chuck Klosterman en su excelente libro "Pegate un tiro para sobrevivir".
