 NIRVANA
"IN UTERO"
Geffen Records
1993

Here I am again after weeks away from anything related to music, can be said to love music above many things, but I also recognize that my worship is always discontinuous, filled me while I step saturates and times of musical celibacy (Cobain syndrome) which today I resarcirme one disk commenting more representative of the 90s, taking advantage of the 20th anniversary of the album. Who does not remember those shirts with the cover of a woman with a baby in her womb with angel wings? I remember being in love with a black sweatshirt with the words In Utero on their sleeves, who later gave me a blank like I found a blunder. But still I keep fondly for that stage of my life. After the great chaos that was Nevermind, Kurt Cobain was particularly frustrated. The album was reworked and ended up being too polished for his taste. Not surprising considering that Bleach sounded like a demonstration of old underground and breath again. He also was upset by the media attention sickly so could no longer stand, so when it came time to release a new album, in no way going to be another Nevermind. In Utero is supposed to be the album that Kurt always wanted to do, but it was a production as he wanted. Some of the songs did not go as I wanted to go and the original recording of the album was abandoned and had to be produced as the record company wanted and they said the disk was too inaccessible and it would not sell. But Kurt had always said he had no control of 100 percent of GDP.So why not have the same success in sales output Nevermind, sold both? A single strong fan base (in which I include myself) was all they needed. The example of what I mean is "Heart-Shaped Box" besides being incredibly contagious has a very dark and grim lyrics, "Hey wait, I have a new complaint." A line that sticks in your head as soon as you first hear it.As you can guess, In Utero was successfully despite not having the same level of sales and radio impact that Nevermind output two years before. The album's title was originally going to be "Verse Chorus Verse" and "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die" (this idea was abandoned when Kurt said fans would not understand the joke ... as of today 20 years later still looking that joke). That's when they finally decided the title of In Utero for Courtney Love poem he had written, "in utero" is the Latin translation. In Utero showed a slower side containing Nirvana acoustic songs as, Dumb and All Apologies. Kurt always wanted to reflect on their writing skills and acoustic songs on this album, it really does. Although it has acoustic songs, the band uses its corrosive side, more experimental, with songs like Scentless Apprentice, Tourettes and Milk it.The experimental songs are a definite departure from Nevermind for the better. These songs include a lot of information constant heaviness, screaming and crying by someone with a troubled heart. My favorite of these is selected tracks "Milk It" which opens like a jam session sounds strange, even a dirty guitar part that Kurt seems to love this album. Kurt's voice is heartbreaking to the choir where Kurt yells "Doll steak! Test meat! "Is one of the most inaccessible da songs that made the band, but I love it anyway. I guess I've always been a fan who has lived in noise music, I find very interesting. For one disk Kurt uses something as simple as your emotions to get feedback through their songs states of sadness or anger. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter is a sample. Obviously, the title refers to Smells Like Teen Spirit, the great success of Nirvana (and probably one of the reasons for the sale of so many millions of records, something that does not matter). Another song is hard Tourettes. Hated by many, loved by me. Kurt is in its natural state tormented in this song. Tourettes is only a minute and a half and contains a Kurt crying and worrying that contains that piece punk sweet guitar. Obviously not the best, but it's pretty fun for a while. The letters always seem absurd, but I know too well that there is a very deep meaning behind them. Kurt always used metaphors and when read or heard something he liked, he wrote it down and turned their lines in their own meaning. That's what happens in a lot of songs that are based Nirvana, being quite difficult to understand but with lyrics so simple and stupid that seem written by a child, but further from reality who only see letters is easy and tribal does not listen to Nirvana. The guitar parts are pretty power chords containing the entire disk with other chords meaningless. Krist But I never found a bassist resultón talented but for a band like Nirvana, so no disk shines a lot of flashes of inspiration and ingenuity by Novoselic. Dave Grohl instead on this album is better than Nevermind, make some big hits like Scentless Apprentice or Radio-Friendly Unit Shifter. Clearly, with a band like Nirvana, you really can not judge by the technicality. The album is driven by a dense atmosphere, dark, dirty riffs that everything goes as Kurt possession. Possibly one of my favorite albums of the nineties. Overall, this disc to keep much better known over time as its predecessor Nevermind. We are talking about hard work, rough and without any concessions to the commercial and industry and yet full of great songs and huge patent left the boundless creativity of their leader. An album that I have special affection for being my favorite band and that got me interested by Grunge. Kurt Cobain and All Apologies as have already been transformed into something timeless.
