Interpol, es la organización de la ley en todo el mundo, esa que si matas a alguien en España, te atrapan tanto si huyes a las Filipinas y luego a los EE.UU. Pero ahora, ellos tienen una nueva arma para atraparte, la banda, Interpol consiste principalmente en su voz principal Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler (guitarra) Carlos D. (bajo) y Sam Fogarino (batería). Su música es una bestia difícil de generalizar, yo los llamo dark-indie-pop, pero estoy seguro que muchos no estarán de acuerdo sobretodo por la etiquetas que lo envuelve todo hoy en dia y que ya empieza a oler tanta mezcla, antiguamente era rock, pop o heavy no habia mas y asi deberia haberse quedado para siempre la música y no tanto snobismo estilistico.
Personalmente no me considero un hombre demasiado amante del Indie, prefiero bandas como Radiohead, Pearl Jam o The Cure, entre otras muchas claro está, sin embargo siempre he sido lo suficientemente valiente como para tomar esto en la premisa de escuchar siempre al menos 2 canciones de cualquier banda o estilo que no conozca, me niego a cerrarme a la música, y aunque no sea muy del parecer de frases como en la vida hay que probarlo todo, en la música si lo suelo hacer. Y tengo que decir una cosa a muchos fans de Interpol, Antics no tiene nada que envidiar a su majestuoso Turn on the Bright Lights.
Cuando escuché Antics por primera vez ya no me parecio tan evidente la linea delgada que separan Interpol de Joy Division. Había después de todo, un aire fresco y distante que se alejaba de ese lado oscuro, una especie de esperanza sombría que gran parte de los renovadores del rock han cosechando y que la prensa de la época decian que carecían. Y, por supuesto la temblor monótona e inquietante en la voz de Paul Banks vuelve a estar torturada por la de de Ian Curtis.
Y aunque el cambio en su segundo álbum no inpactó tanto como en su debut, las voces han demostrado una evolución sutil, el instante suena más amable y amigable con la reducción de la reverberación de los ecos. Era un efecto que probablemente era necesario replantear en cualquier reclamación de sonido y de la progresión de la composición de canciones.
"Next Exit" , primera canción del álbum, muestra esto y se las arregla para sonar más ligera que casi cualquier cosa de su debut. La primera escucha es ya pegadiza y más melódica que cualquier otra cosa anterior, lo que la convierte en una apertura fascinante que sienta un precedente de ansiedad por tener que escuchar el resto. Aquí Branks recita, y con razón, la música que le acompaña suena tan fascinante como si fuera el centro de la noche, pero con un matiz extrañamente esperanzador.
"Evil" puede ser la más sorprendente, ya que se aparta de la mayor parte de la fórmula establecida de Interpol, y es una de las primeras canciones que ofrece un tempo mucho más optimista. Más emocionante son los versos emergentes, donde la banda se detiene brevemente para permitir a la voz de Banks sea inquietante. Combinado con la estructura del sistema de coros, estos versículos muestran fuera y una especie de emociones de seguridad en sí mismas que siguen con "Narc", la tercera canción del álbum, otra con un tempo de ritmo mas bailable , además de ligeros toques reggae hacia su final. Nos llega desde lo opaco y lo sombrío "Take You on a Cruise", una de las pocas que suena como un residuo de su pasado, el sonido es muy parecido al primer álbum, es uno de los inicios más impactantes de toda la discografia de Interpol sin lugar a dudas y es algo que parece mejorar con la escucha repetida. La total sensación del álbum es mucho más viva, animosa, y accesible, y en combinación con bases ambientales ubicuas de la banda, el tono optimista a menudo hace que esta colección sea mucho mas inspiradora en las composiciones de las canciones. Es como si los tramos más oscuros de Interpol se esfuerzan en mantener su positividad interior y se adecua cuando la capacidad de ser exuberante, espeluznante y bailable se junta adecuadamente, como en las canciones de relieve "Not Even Jail", y "Public Pervert". Interpol se las arregla para sonar tan eternos como las bandas que han sido acusados de plagio. Si hay algo que cuestionar, sin embargo, es la canción "Slow Hands" y que fue el primer sencillo, y a mi me parece desconcertante. Es sin duda una canción fuerte, pero se siente extrañamente inmóvil a pesar del ritmo energético. Esto es el problema de la mayor parte del álbum, sin embargo después de la grandeza inicial del disco queda diluda, como digo hay un descenso más adelante, y muchos de los sonidos comienzan a mezclarse entre sí. El ejemplo sería "Length of Love" esta completamente carente de imaginación. Por supuesto, este es el mayor problema de la banda a veces da la sensacion como si tuviera que competir consigo misma, en cualquier caso, la caída se alivia con el tema del final, la maravillosamente evocadora "A time to be so Small", el guitarrista Kessler suministra una vez más una serie de sonidos de guitarras tremendamente hermosos. Las 10 canciones del álbum se sienten cortas, incluso cuando la mayoría de las canciones son largas, ya que distan en torno a los cuatro y cinco minutos. Sin embargo, el álbum tiene ese tipo de facilidad de correr en la canciones que lo hace muy adictivo.
El futuro de la banda es ya su presente y están libres de comparaciones. Por supuesto, incluso si eso no sucede, los fans de la banda deben sentirse satisfechos. Yo lo estoy.

And although the change in their second album inpactó not as much as in his debut, the voices have demonstrated a subtle evolution , the instant sounds more polite and friendly with reduced reverberation echoes . It was an effect that was probably necessary to reconsider any claim sound and progression of songwriting .

We come from opaque and gloomy "Take You on a Cruise" , one of the few that sounds like a waste of his past, the sound is very similar to the first album, is one of the most impressive early whole Preview undoubtedly Interpol and is something that seems to improve with repeated listening . The overall feel of the album is much more lively , spirited , and accessible , and in combination with ubiquitous environmental bases of the band, the optimistic tone often makes this collection much more inspiring in the compositions of the songs. It is as if the darker sections of Interpol strive to maintain positivity and fits inside when the ability to be lush , creepy and danceable adequately meets , as highlighted in the songs "Not Even Jail " and " Public Pervert " . Interpol manages to sound as timeless as the bands who have been accused of plagiarism. If there is something to question , however , is the song " Slow Hands " and was the first single , and I find disconcerting . It is certainly a strong song , but it feels strangely still despite the energetic rhythm . This is the problem of most of the album , however after the initial greatness diluda disc is , as I say there is a further decline , and many of the sounds begin to blend together . The example would be "Length of Love" is completely unimaginative . Of course , this is the biggest problem of the band sometimes get the feeling like you have to compete with itself , in any case , the fall is relieved by the final issue , the wonderfully evocative " A time to be so Small" , Kessler guitarist once again provides a series of tremendously beautiful guitar sounds .
